Special Education
At Elevate, we deeply believe in supporting each student’s timeline and needs, regardless if the student has an IEP. This starts with great communication between staff members and families. Our staff truly know our students and are invested in their success. Some ways that we support all of our students as well as how we specifically support our students with IEPs:
Students with disabilities are integrated in all classes with the highest needs students receiving individualized support as needed.
Academic organization and executive functioning skills are embedded into our Homeroom curriculum.
Continuous communication and peer mentoring between experienced and novice teachers in scaffolding and supporting students with IEPs.
Clear “why” behind everything - students know how their industry projects are tied to their general education subjects.
Benchmarking testing and small group, leveled interventions designed to support students exactly where they are on their timelines towards mastery.
E+R=O (Event + Response = Outcome) focus that centers on the whole child.
Child Find
Elevate Academy engages in Child Find activities throughout the school year in order to create awareness of special education programs, to advise the public that students who qualify for services have a right to a free appropriate public education and confidentiality protections, and to alert the community that a process exists to identify and serve children with disabilities from the age of 3 through the semester in which they turn 21.
If a child is having significant difficulty with vision, hearing, speech, physical impairments, behavior, learning, or is experiencing slow development compared to other children his/her age, he/she may be a child with a disability. Early identification and intervention is essential to help ensure school success. For children ages 3 to 5, Developmental Screenings are held in your local school district. Please contact your local school district special services department.
If you know of a child who is 3 through 21 years of age who may have individual needs that results from disabilities or developmental delays, and who is not enrolled in a school program, please contact, Elevate Academy Network Special Education Director at 208-504-0130 and you will be connected to someone who can answer your questions.
